Prayer for the World Youth Day 2000
Two thousand years have passed since You walked among us, O Lord.
The fleeting days of our youth are spent in the search
for happiness that truly fills the heart.
O Lord Jesus, help us to see and to believe
That this world, so spoiled by injustice, conflict and emptiness,
can be born to new life, only in You.
Jesus Christ, Son of God,
we are Your brothers and sisters
we love You, we follow You!
The Pope calls us to the Jubilee of Your Incarnation, O Lord.
We answer his call with eagerness and hope,
anxious to find You, to know You and to know we are brothers and
sisters in Your Church.
Lord Jesus, free our hearts of fear and sin,
renew them through the experience of love and forgiveness,
so we may put our lives at the service of the poor.
Jesus Christ, Son of God,
we are Your brothers and sisters
we love You, we follow You!
From every corner of the earth we turn our steps to Rome, O Lord.
May the memory of Peter, Paul and many other witnesses to the Faith
confirm for us the message of Your Gospel.
Change us Lord Jesus, make us open to Your words of truth and life
Which Your Church entrusts to us for the Third Millennium.
Make us Your witnesses for those who have yet to meet You.
Jesus Christ, Son of God,
we are Your brothers and sisters
we love You, we follow You!
