Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of JesusAbout the Sister Servants | A Day With the Sister Servants | Contact the Sisters
Sister Servants of the Sacred Heart (black habits) visiting Mother Angelica at EWTN Our Congregation was founded April 15, 1894 in Krakow, Poland by Bishop Joseph Sebastian Pelczar. We now have convents in the United States, Poland, France, the Vatican, Italy, Africa, South America and the Ukraine. As Sister Servants of His Heart, our response is to be witnesses of Christ by our deep prayerful spirit -- the Franciscan spirit. And like St. Francis, in our Apostolic Works we embrace all mankind: young girls who are in need, children in classrooms, catechetical students, the aged, the sick, etc. --with love and as the presence of Christ. Through our charism of Reparation to the Sacred Heart, we unite all of our daily moments with the Blessed Virgin Mary and in expiation is a desire to make up for the sins committed in the world today.
This reparation is vital to the meaning of our Community and to our response to the needs of the Church today. Our charism is not a gloomy ideal but a joyful acceptance of whatever God's providence allows -"to make up for what is lacking in he suffering of Christ" (Col 1:24)
The Sisters form their spiritual life on the Holy Gospel and Franciscan ascetism. Our call is one of Reparation and Love to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is the Center for our Contemplative - Active life. Daily participation in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Communion, Prayers in common, Holy Hour of Reparation are essential and the living fiber of our Religious Family.
